Interesting ideas from everyone, and it's really up to you. However, have you
considered if the old company fails again, your chances of going back to your
current company, the stable but boring position, might be slim and none?
Like most of us, I've been downsized more than once, most recently at the end
of May when the software company I had a left a comfortable consulting
position to join finally fessed up to their numbers and laid off 1/3 of the
staff. I went through the usual emotions, and found another better position
quite quickly, but never once did i consider going back to that software
company, and I did not wish even once that they had laid off someone else in
my place.
I'm not a risk taker, and I've yet to burn a bridge with an employer.
However, I'd look long and hard at the company's financing and ways to protect
myself before I'd go back to a company that had at least 3 rounds of layoffs.
