Bryan asks : Did this demand come with a court order? Just because
it came from a lawyer doesn't mean that they were legally bound to reply.
And I add - tell them you're happy to comply, and then track time and
backcharge for the costs. You should be able to easily cover the costs
of a company-wide upgrade to XP off a few days of lawyer expenses. <evil

The company I work for makes it a priority to maintain legitimate licenses
for products. We recently received a letter from an attorney in Chicago
(working for Microsoft) demanding that we list every piece of MS software
that we have installed on every computer.
