When I'm running an application for documentation (as opposed to
running it to figure out how the hell it works), I'm usually running
Techsmith's Camtasia in the background...the same people who make
SnagIt. By capturing my movements in an AVI, I don't have to run a
process from the beginning each time i want to address a portion of
the process in the middle.
One of the benefits is that when something DOES crash, I can not only
describe it to the developers, but they can see every mouse movement,
click, popup, screen, that led to the crash, freeze, or message. The
only problem is that I end up with a HD full of AVI...than god for
CDRW.
