Re: Issues with Adobe Acrobat and PDFs? (take II)
I'm involved in a very high-pressure gig here (and am loving every
minute). Just as is going on in every lrge compny, the sole purpose
of this project is re-engineer various business processes so that the
process of getting to market is system driven rather than
paper/form/email/phone call driven. This is where hours in a
multi-day process can make a difference.
We're talking about processes that are the core platform of how the
company does business and some VERY high-level people are involved.
Do you think thay they are going to spend millions of dollars just to
figure out HOW to change, then see it delayed because someone wants a
PDF structured differently?
I think I'm misunderstanding this; it sounds as though you're saying they're spending millions of dollars to figure out HOW to change and then using the expenditure to justify a blanket ban on change during development.
I thought the point of processes is control over changes, not wholesale abandonment of improvement. If a multi-million dollar re-engineering process ends up making it impossible to implement a change after development has started if the cost (including X-team impact) / benefit is appropriate, then the high-powered people are high-powering everyone into high-powered disaster.
But then, high-powered people never do that, do they. So you must mean something different. Which is.... ?
