Unemployment commissions will pay you if any employer has made payments to
the system on your behalf during the maximum benefit period, something like
18 months. You can renew an old claim if you haven't used the money up. And,
they will pay even if your employer disputes it.

I've now people who worked as temps. And, each day that they did not work,
they filed.

The amount of money you get is tied to what you get paid, but TWs get paid
too much, so you will get the maximum, which is still not enough to pay
rent, car, and child support let alone food. Sock some of that money away.

Likewise, foodstamps are not tied to pay, they are tied to how much money is
left for food after everything gets paid. I've never applied, but the
program is there if it ever comes to that.

When you are not looking for a job, take the time to learn a new skill. Get
the free demo software, read books, increase your worth. Learn
telemarketing. Spend a day at the library learning how to track down
employers by SIC/NAFTA codes. Spend a day at the courthouse going through
the recent DBA filings and find that invisible startup.
