I don't know how to solve that from a macro perspective, but I'm wondering
if this is something you could do using Find and Replace.

You can change the style of a small piece of text that way, or look for
specific styles and replace them as desired.

I don't know if the text chunk is small enough, but it might be worth a
try. Let me know if unsure of how to do this.
