That's it. The thing you sign is just an acknowlegement, not an agreement.
Refusing to sign wouldn't change anything.

I don't think it's very nice --or honest--to ask a courtesy one has no intention
of reciprocating. And since you signed the paper, you may be inclined to
believe you ARE required. (Funny how much more cynical I've gotten about
employers this year. ;)
