Hi Clare,
The company I work for uses Lotus Notes to organize
and deliver policy and procedural information to our
customer service reps. Much of the documentation
exists in Word format, many documents existing as
attachments in Notes databases. It's incredibly clunky
and inflexible. Clearly, it's a terrible tool for
delivering information.
I once worked for a large mutual fund company where we
delivered all of our P&P information via a web-like
browser. That's what I'd like to see here, but in
these cost-conscious times I don't foresee having the
resources to create a good intranet anytime soon. It's
not an ideal situation, but as professionals, we have
to work with the tools available to us, no matter how
primitive.
So offer your professional opinion, but work with what
you have should you not get your way.
