Reminds me of when I first started here, and I was
asked to make changes to some Word created HTML
pages. Since I'd already convinced the boss to buy
DreamWeaver, I thought I'd run one through the DW
"Cleanup Word HTML" tool.

Results:

32 empty tags removed
872 comments removed
48 font tags combined

That's _one_ page, mind you, and not a very long
page, either. It was reduced by about 50%. That's
a lot of unnecessary overhead, in my book,
especially as you can't see any difference in the
before and after when viewed in a browser.

I suggest avoiding Word's HTML conversion tool,
either by copying your doc into a true HTML tool,
or by using the "clean slate" method mentioned by
Jean Hollis Weber.
