you'll never know what the client thinks happened. the truth is something else altogether in general, but especially since, if Elna is subject to a biased interpretation of events, so are they. you might subscribe to an epistemology where truth is generated by the contestation between different subjective points of view. but to conflate the truth with the client's interpretation is to make the same mistake you are criticizing other's for.
