Danny,

I think the style problem comes along when there are SME's who don't know about "style". Because it's a "form" issue, the content providers sometimes have other priorities. In pharmaceutical writing, both marketing and technical/scientific, because so much of the text contains trademark/service mark/trade dress and/or is highly regulated, there are formal style rules for both form and content, but I recently experienced a fairly large regional organization who didn't even have one consistent corporate style manual, or a backup manual from a professional organization (like the AMA.) Maybe the closer the product is to commercial or professional publication, the more stringent the style mandates?

I'm curious
as to whether the preponderance of "style checkers" are from large
organizations, where adherence to styles can be more troublesome.
