Let's not forget the prediction that by the turn of the century 1/3 of
Europe and many African populations would be wiped out. The pick of the
incline was reached about 1995 or 1997. We have hit the Black Plague
numbers, but that is of less significance than percentages of population.
Dr. Sazuki, from here in Vancouver, is an honorary member of this
group. His exposes on conditions has lead to his home being shot at, death
threats, etc. This is a city that is not supposed to be armed.
Since my projects sometimes on technology global sustainability, it is easy
to have the appearance of a gloomy future. I am actually a quite positive
person, more solution oriented than doom and gloom.
I was responding to a posting that was over the top the other way. Balance
in discourse is good. So is stirring up a hornets nest to get people
thinking beyond their everyday comfort zone.

Nora's gloomy future prediction prompts me to list a few technology-based

technological progress. (I'm playing fast and loose with the time frames, but
the predictions are all true.)
