A few years ago I had something similar to CT called De Quervain's disease,
a swelling of the sheath around the tendons passing along the wrist to the
thumb.
I got a couple of cortisone shots when it flared up a coupe of years in a
row, always around the end of April or early May. It only happened in my
left hand (I'm dexterous, not sinister) and I wondered for a few years as to
what was causing it until it dawned on me what else starts around that time
of year ... softball season! Apparently wearing a leather fielder's glove at
a couple of softball practices is enough to kick it off for me!
I got a lighter glove.
