I agree that STC conferences lack the technical *oomph* required for
*Technical* Writers to successfully leverage their skills in the industry.
However, with the myriad of possible electrical/mechanical/computer/chemical
engineering topics to discuss, it believe it would be difficult to cram it
into one conference. Ergo, there are societies that cater to such subject
matter. It is for thus reason that I *also* decided to become a member of
the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and also serve
on the Los Angeles Council. This is where technical acumen related to
specific theories and concepts is disseminated. We each have a choice - if
the STC is not technical enough for ones taste, find an organization that
can satisfy your technical fetish.
