I've seen the same thing recently with a link checker. It insisted on dinging me about the bad links I had commented out in hopes of eventually finding out where the pages had moved to.
BTW, I checked out a small personal page on Geocities yesterday, and Bobby dinged it for the script that Yahoo appends to your code to create those annoying popup ads. Like I said yesterday, Yahoo displays a totally disregard for the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative). Their start page alone has 19 priority 1 violations, including an image map with no alt tags (except for one for the image and that reads "Yahoo") that includes one link that is not found in the text anywhere on the entire page.

I just put my home page through Bobby and saw that it does not read the HTML
in context. For example, an <IMG> tag that does not display a picture was
cited as lacking ALT text.
-->Addition: The <IMG> tag in question is in a script for a page counter
and does not display. It is surrounded by tags that instruct the browser not
to display it.
