The main reason I subscribed to the list was to read Andrew's posts. I sorted my TECHWR-L inbox by poster so I could surf to the A's to see what Andres was posting about. Without Andrew on the list to prefilter the interesting stuff, I'm left with sorting it out for myself. And it's no longer interesting.

This list has lost its most interesting voice. Unless we can coax Andrew back, the list will devolve into the vapidity of other lists. It's collective IQ has been severely reduced.

He was one of the best writers on the list. He clearly has a sharp, overclocked mind and in spite of his razor sharp wit, he had a good heart (albeit a bit right wing). I enjoyed his writing. At some time in his life he should write books. Or be a stand up comic.

Going on a one-on-one with Andrew in a battle of wit is a perilous thing. I never was a "victim" of his wit. But even if I was, I'd welcome the feedback. May not agree with it. But I'd respect and welcome it, because it came from an honest and intelligent source. I'd probably also laugh my butt off reading it.

The people that took offense at his wit to the degree where they harassed him off the list sicken me. Andrew had a lot more patience for them than I do. Why couldn't they have the patience for Andrew?

If you don't like a particular poster on a list to the point where it makes you neurotically hateful, simply activate your email filter to delete any posts from the "offending" list member(s). You all should know how to do that at least. After all, you are TECHNICAL writers, aren't you?

I hope we can coax him back on.
