Kim:

(After twice posting replies to the wrong person) Here's what we do:

We use "This material is preliminary, and subject to change." It's set in the same font and size as normal text, with weight as bold, and color as red.

We put this immediately following the topic title on each topic it applies to. The reasoning to having it on each topic is that since it is on-line material, we can't really be sure that people would see or read the first page, and might just print the one topic they're interested in. Thus, having it on every page makes it unmistakable.

When we originally decided on this text, one member of the team wanted it to read "This material is preliminary, and may change in the released version". After quite a bit of consideration, we decided that we should NOT say "in the released version", since saying so really constituted a "contract" of sort. It would essentially promise that there WOULD be a final version. That's often called a "forward looking statement", that says something about the future that may or may not actually occur.

Hi all.
We're creating user doc for an early-ALPHA release of our product. I'd like
to include a disclaimer along with our copyright page that lets the users
know that this doc is, at very best, a draft. Does anyone have a sample I
could look at? I've checked the archives, didn't find anything that quite
fits the bill.
