Subject:Help with Word templates and "conversion" From:"Snyder Heater, Regina" <HeaterR -at- us -dot- tigplc -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Tue, 11 Jun 2002 12:03:25 -0500
Greetings--
This list was so helpful with my CD Interface query several weeks back that
I thought I'd try another one:
I'm using Word 2000 on a PC. I also have FrameMaker 6.0 (Frame 7.0 is on
its way). I have Filtrix, too.
The task: Convert hundreds of user documentation files from Template A (old
company) to Template B (new company). I need to apply Template B (new
header, cover and copyright statement)to each of the documents in the most
expeditious manner, meaning I don't have the time to go through each
document to make changes to the formatting.
I've tried copying the content from the "old" docs to the new template, but
the headers and footers change. Is there a way I can just copy the content
without copying the headers?
I've thought about utilizing Frame, converting the docs to mif and then
applying my doc template, but previous experience tells me that would take
more time than I have, given the number of documents and their size (some of
them are 200-300+ pages).
Any thoughts and ideas you have are welcome. I've been using Frame for so
long now that I don't use Word for anything more than faxes and memos, so
forgive me if I'm missing something very simple in Word.
Regards,
Regina
