Arms length, but cordial is how I worked it when I was working at CNET.
Most (if not all) reputable news/journals have very strict policies about
the editorial and marketing split. Even though I hadn't worked at Microsoft
for eight years, I wasn't allowed to review or edit reviews of Microsoft
products because of a *perceived* conflict of interest.

Most of the marketing people I had dealings with understood the wall between
marketing and editorial. They'd push a bit, but respected it.
