This has always been part of my "rule of thumb" toolbox when evaluating a
potential employer or contract. How resistant are they to supplying or
using the proper tools to get the job done? Any place that gets twonky
about a request or recommendation to buy/use professional, NECESSARY
software starts the red lights flashing. I've been at places where they
don't blink an eye when purchasing multiple seats of AutoCAD (some of which
go unused, but hey, we might need them soon!) but a request to upgrade to
Framemaker takes a month and multiple justification memos... Sorry--just
one of my frustrations!
