Of course there is no one size fits all solution. If
there was, there'd also be a one size fits all
solution to technical writing in general. As far as
content development goes, the argument of single
sourcing vs. non-single sourcing is moot. You're
generating the same types of content. The only
difference is how the content is assembled and
addressed. You have very similar content management
issues in both workflows, and in either workflow, gold
is gold and crap is crap. Single sourcing is
definitely not appropriate for all situations, and is
definitely not appropriate for all writers. As with
anything, you need to assess your needs, address them,
and then weitht the workflows against them and see
what makes sense.
