Just being ISO doesn't make a process any better and there are numerous
counter-arguments to every case. However, ISO's relative importance in the
world stems from a simple and common requirement.

In order to have Quality Output you require Quality Inputs. If you
purchase supplies from Q companies you do not need to run a QA on them
yourself. So a Q company prefers to have Q companies as suppliers to give
them a seamless Q process.
