Hello,

I have decided to find a non-technical trade to fall back on just in case something happens to my current job. I managed to survive a very ugly layoff a few months ago.

I?m going to enroll in my local community college. I want to receive training in a trade that I can work in the evenings, but has the potential for being a full-time job (in an emergency). I am very interested in health and I have been looking at pharmacy tech, nursing, and esthetician (skin care). The pay can?t compare to what I receive now, but it beats nothing. One of my co-workers is going to real estate school. My long-term goal is to buy a small business.

To prepare for an emergency, I am saving much more money than I was before and I am sacrificing to pay off my bills within the next 7 months. I have put off buying a house until I finish a training program. My cheap rent is a blessing right now.

I have a question, has anyone looked into U.S. government jobs?

Lisa
