I do it all the time, with my Toshiba Satellite 1805 and Windows XP Pro.
Other than downloading an updated driver, it's all built in, and very easy
to use. Note that Windows XP Home doesn't support multi-monitors... this
laptop has an nVidia Geforce2Go chip.

In fact, the first place I hooked it up was at a client site during a 48
hour crunch proposal project. Took me less than 5 minutes to get it up and
running. I'm hooked!
