Your boss was way wrong. And yes, a little paranoia might be a good thing.

When faced by <expletive deleted> like this, I tend to say things like "Of
course it's full of errors, it only took me 5 mins to write. It's quicker to
do it this way."

In general, when distributing rough drafts to, er, challenging people, I
tend to add a big red stamp to the header or footer saying "DRAFT ONLY! NOT
FOR DISTRIBUTION"
