Since the original quote was my comment. At our monthly meetings we have the
"who's looking, who's offering" and a resume table. Since last Sept the
number of actively searching has grown while the "who's offering" has shrunk
to an average of .3/mo.
Now, this is not scientific, for many do not stand up to say "looking." Most
of the lookers are those coming off a contract or those who have been
<facitious> downsized <\facitious>.Being of a curious sort, I asked if we
could have a show of hands of *all* those actively pursuing jobs. The result
was half the room. This was April '02, attendance 65. (Chapter membership
280 or so.) From the number who were still and newly looking in Sept, it's
not much better. Our resume table is quite packed.
So, please don't get this very unsciencetific survey get to Internet Urban
Legend proportions!
