Hello all

I've been trying in vain to come up with a way to include a field on a locked form that
a) display's todays date as the default text
b) allows the user to change the date at will
c) limits the entries to valid dates

I've tried the following:

Entering {Date} in the Default text entry box on the fields property card. Word doesn't recognize {Date} as a variable on the property card and returns "Invalid date format"
creating an insert date macro that executes on entry. Word can't execute the macro saying it refers to a locked portionof the document.

I'd also like to include a field that allow a text entry if, and only if the user selects "other from a previous drop down menu. I've searched my Word 97 bible but didn't find anything on writing "active if" statements.

BTW-the form must be locked. This is a management decsion and will not change.

Thanks in advance,

-Greg
