Subject:WebHelp Index Problems From:"Sandy Smith" <Sandy -dot- Smith -at- sedonacorp -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Fri, 18 Oct 2002 09:32:58 -0400
The following is a mystery that I have inherited from the previous tech.
writer. He posted this on the Quadralay sight. One response was that this
problem is cured with WW 7.0. I am throwing this out to all of you to see if
anyone can think of any other options. I am using FrameMaker 6.0 and
WebWorks Publisher 6.0. Please note that the output is Java Help.
We have a multivolume WebWorksHelp system based on 6 different Frame
books/WW projects.
Everything works fine with the combined system, EXCEPT that the Index is
deeply flawed.
On the left-frame Index tab, there is a long list of index entries; however,
the entries for two of the six projects are ABSENT.
When you click on an entry in the left frame, the right frame shows
something like the following:
<name of an index entry> (unlinked text)
...followed by a list of topic names that are hyperlinks to the
corresponding topics.
HOWEVER, <name of index entry> is NOT the same index entry that was clicked
on the left side. In a further twist, <index entry> is always one of the
ABSENT index entries mentioned in the 3rd paragraph above.
