I never realized that there were such applications. I just use a programming
text editor. Gives basic syntax highlighting, which is a nice sanity
checker. I know Dreamweaver has a number of built in JavaScripts for a
variety of common actions, so I'd guess that FrontPage also does.

Something else to consider is a cookbook type of book (in contrast to the
typical O'Reilly language reference book). One that comes to mind is Danny
Goodman's JavaScript Bible. Haven't used it personally, but I hear it is
good. There are other good ones as well, but I don't recall any titles.

Another great cookbook type text (though not specifically dedicated to
javascript) is DHTML & CSS for the World Wide Web, by Jason Cranford Teague.
A great book, IMO.
