I need to implement a search function for a basic HTML online help system. The search function needs to work the way that the search in Windows Help systems does but I can't use a standard help system because of the platforms on which my document will be used.
To be specific, I need the search function to search through a directory of HTML files, find instances of a user-entered term, and provide links to the documents that contain each instance. I know that the Framemaker 7.0 online help does this very thing, seemingly with JavaScript.
The documentation needs to stand alone on machines that are only known to have Microsoft IE installed. Does anyone know of a good resource that can help me put something like this together? Any clue will be very much appreciated.
