Part of my documentation involves diagnosing errors described though error
alerts output by HP Openview and resolving them. For almost a day, I've been
watching a discussion between one of the developers and the Network
Operations Center (NOC), but I was involved in something and figured it
would get resolved. Keep in mind that the developer is young, cute, easily
flustered, and the newest on the team, and the NOC is well, the
NOC...they've seen everything...a more grizzled group of techies you've
never seen, and they've been kicking the proverbial cr*p out of
her...telling her that her code sucked for it to create the errors that it
was.

Anyway, she comes to me, asking me if I had anything in the documentation
that would help her, so I showed her how to locate the error string, how to
diagnose the problem, and how to resolve it, since it turned out that the
error wasn't from the code, but from the datafeed in a connecting system.

Well...she was thrilled! She skipped off and 5 minutes later, a message gets
posted from her to about a dozen different parties, basically saying:

"I told you the error wasn't my code, but you didn't believe me. The error
is described in the Run book PDF, here's the link if you lost it: xxxx. if
you don't know how to find the error, it's on page 94. Now LEAVE ME ALONE
AND DO YOUR JOB!."

It was so cute!!
