Many cookbooks list all ingredients, followed by instructions in paragraph
form. This is often not the optimal way to design/display the info. I'm
looking for better examples of well designed recipes. (More current than
what I've found in the archives.)
A good example: William Sonoma has a cookbook that uses a hidden table
format: the measurements/ingredients are listed on the left in bold, with
the corresponding instructions to the right in regular print. These columns
are separted by a thin vertical line. Steps are separated visually by extra
space. So, for example, the vinaigarette ingredients and instructions are
listed, followed by some white space, then the crouton
ingredients/instructions, followed by some white space, then the salad
ingredients/instructions.
It's a beautifully designed cookbook. What others have you seen? This topic
is all about font-fondling, and white space, and page oreintation, so please
design-geeks, add your two cents. =^)
