I'm not designing a cookbook, but rather looking for a way to display
recipes/instructions for a cooking class. These would be posted at the
individual cook stations.
Printing costs in this environment are minimal, so I can use as much white
space as I want--it's virtually free! =^)
The only constraint is that I would like this kept to a single, one-sided
standard page.
Any suggestions?
Ruth

Ruth,
"Design" in the book trade encompasses both esthetics and economics. If you
are designing a high-price coffee table cookbook with one recipe per quarto
spread, you have the luxury of being able to incorporate numbered lists,
tables, and all the white space you wish.
If you are designing a $9.95 paperback with 2,500 recipes, you may be stuck
with list-plus-paragraph style.
So the first consideration of any book designer is figuring out how much
information you have to get onto a page and how much you can spend (in
composition costs) to put it there. Within those constraints, however,
creative problem-solving is encouraged ;-)
