For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.

I think that the fact that it is even possible to have a
discussion here about ethics suggests that not everybody has
the same ethical code, or the same depth of understanding
of the topic. That is, if we all were already on the same
page, there would be no room for discussion. Discussion
implies differing viewpoints, and possibly greater or lesser
knowledge or understanding of the topic among participants.
This further suggests that there's a place for writing about
the topic (ethics, as she is spoke in the workplace).
Now, given that there doesn't seem to be a "Workplace Ethics"
magazine that we all subscribe to, the trade rags for many
(most?) industries, professions, etc., take on that chore
on an irregular basis. In this case, it's Intercom.
I don't think we need to read any more into it than that.
Ethics case studies interest some people, and the place
they're most likely to get 'em without going back to school
is in their local trade rag.
If nobody was interested, ever, then they'd eventually stop
doing those articles. If it's not the fact of the articles,
per se, that annoys you, but the emphasis or the particular
content, or whatever, then you are free to write your own or
to at least send in suggestions for future topics and lines
of inquiry. So am I.
