For those people out of work in the LA area, you may find http://www.socaltech.com/company.html helpful. This site lists companies by area in the greater LA area, often with links directly to the employment listings of the company. It is not aimed at tech writers in specific, but is a list of technology companies.

I have no commercial interest in this site (though I do maintain the Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo county listings). I passed the site along off-list to one out of work person in the area, she found it helpful, so I thought I'd pass it along.
