I like the idea of titling this discussion accreditation instead of certification. To answer Ashley, we're talking about a form of accreditation that comes after some (as-yet-to-be-defined) experience in the field. While the requirements for accreditation might be used to inform the design of a degree curriculum, I should think it would confer higher status than having a degree but no experience.

The folks I work with who have gone to the trouble of becoming Certified New Product Development Professionals already had advanced degrees and several years of experience. I imagine the same could be said of most of the people in the accredited PR program.
