- A specified time amount in the field
- The proof that you are maintaining your skills through continued education
- That you have a degree OR that you can substitute length of time in the
profession for specific amounts of education (3 years experience =1 year, 5
years =2 years, 7 years = 3 years, 10 years = 4 years)
Things like that.
Better? I would think that one progression might be:
Get TechComm degree, work in field 2 years, take exam
or
Work in field 10 years, take exam
The important thing is that you can include real-life experience in addition
to education. That would eliminate the professional student who gets a PhD
in techCom before day one of experience, then being hired as an expert and
not knowing how to work under real-life conditions. (The SME says "F'Off, I
don't care what they told you in school.")
