Which the same argument can be made for Boeing. Laying off 300 to save 3000
is a strategic decisions. A $3B tax break may seem horrible, but if it saves
10000 jobs, it could prevent that much or more in lost tax revenue from
employees and vendors who support Boeing. Again, the legislature is thinking
strategically, not tactically.

I wonder (I'm not familiar with the details) - is there any solid indication that the tax break did save, as opposed to 'could have saved', any jobs? Because if there isn't, we are left with three choices:

- The tax break was merely a knee-jerk response.

- If the legislature was thinking strategically, they aren't very good at it.

- They were thinking strategically only about their own careers (cf. "Boing's back pocket")

To repeat, this is only true if there aren't any good indications that jobs (or at least substantial continued tax income) has been saved.

Regards
Jan Henning
