TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Chiming in late, I'm on digest. I think Eric Ray has given us the answer to
"what we should do":
|
Before you post, folks, ask yourself if you'd say the SAME THING in the SAME
WAY in that context in face to face communication. Try it out: Read your
posting to your officemate, partner, boss, or co-workers before you click
Send. Remember that your email contains none of the tonal/facial cues to
irony or humor, and the oft overused ;-) symbols don't really equate.
|
Forget the posting-per-day rule. A newbie, or experienced TWer with 3 issues
in one day should be able to post to get help. If you can't show your boss
your post, don't post it. Period.
