As Chuck Martin and several others have pointed out, a properly used semicolon in a clearly written sentence will go unnoticed by the reader, because the information in the sentence will be conveyed successfully.

None of us are proposing use of semicolons in cases that would result in ambiguity, so your argument is specious.
