Absolutely correct. However, it should be based on the dedication to learn
the technology once there. There are too many writers who take the approach
"I'm a technical writer, not a DBA. So why should I understand how SQL,
databases, database replication, and database backup and restore actually
work?"

I once started a gig where on the first day, I and 25 reps, all company
veterans except me, from 25 different corporate systems were holed up in a
hotel "war room" for 14 hours each day, to define and reengineer an
enterprise-wide system. For the first three days, I'm sure they thought that
the only word I knew was "Huh?
