Heya all,
So the thing is, I've got a document full of cross references to other
sections, with a reference fields for the heading for the section, and a
"on page XX" field. I've found that when I move a section being referred
to and update the xrefs, the xref to the heading suddenly picks up a bunch
of text from the document, rather than the heading, giving me a whole
bunch of nonsense instead of my useful reference.I've tried to find an
answer to this in the archives and the Word MVP site among other places,
but so far no luck.
Is there anyway to avoid breaking my references? Am I doing something
wrong when I move the text around--I frequently use the Outline view to
move the text. Isn't the point of having these updateable xrefs that you
can move stuff around and not have to track down and manually change every
reference to it?
...am I being naive in hoping that Word will do what I expect it to?...
Hopefully,
Mandy
