When people say engineers should not write, they
mean engineers-who-cannot-write must not.

Also, anyone who can write well is a writer by
definition (maybe not by designation). Thus, an
engineer who is also a writer is NOT covered in
the "Engineers must not write." attitude.

It does cover ex-writers who take up a bunch of
bandwidth to say: "If engineers can write well,
why not?"
