Often, at small companies, you get to try on various writers' hats in a
relatively short period of time. This gives you early insight into the
relationship between technical writing, marketing writing, sales writing,
business development writing, etc. There's a lot of cross-pollination
between these areas. Also, each time you try a new writing genre and
succeed, your value to the company increases and your job gets more
interesting.

And if the hat don't fit... don't wear it. ("If the hat don't fit, you must
acquit.")
