Here are two methods that *did* work for me:

1. Insert|Symbol
2. In the Font field, select MS Mincho.
3. In the Subset field, select Miscellaneous Technical.
4. There it is!
5. Click Insert.
6. Click Close

Or:

1. Open the Character Map.
2. In the Font field, select MS Mincho.
3. In the Go To Unicode field, type 22EE.
4. Click Select.
5. Click Copy.
6. Close the Character Map.
7. Paste in Word.

Well I'll be jiggered.

First, In all my years of using Windows and Word, not only have I never heard of an "MS Minco" font, I've never noticed the Subset drop-down list in the Insert Symbol dialog box.

That opens a whole heckuva lot of possibilities.

Of course, I discovered a bug, one that doens't affect the operation:

When you select Miscellaneous Technical in the drop-down list, then click on the vertical ellipsis, the selection in the drop-down list changes to Mathematical Operators (although the characters shows remain as the Miscellaneous Technical ones.

Anyone notice the diagonal ellipses?

BTW, holding down the Alt key and typing a code (on the number pad) has been a way of entering any character since the dawn of Windows (or at least Windows 3.0; I worked as a Product Support Technician for that very product at Microsoft in the summer of '90), and it's built in to Windows itself, so it can be used in any application.

Happy Friday,

Yes, that makes a very good Friday, just the thing before a busy holiday weekend.

Many thanks!
