Subject:Acrobat bookmarking and PDF creation weirdness From:liss_clark -at- yahoo -dot- com To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Thu, 1 Jul 2004 15:21:39 -0600
Hi,
My other co-worker has another weird PDF issue. He is using FM 7,
Microsoft Word, and Acrobat 5.0 and 6.0 in a Windows XP environment.
Here's the situation:
He is able to create PDFs from Adobe FM with no problems. It's when he
tries to create PDFs from Mic Word that it doesn't work properly. He says
the first icon (Convert to Adobe PDF) doesn't work AT ALL in Word. The
second icon works but he doesn't always need to mail the PDF.
If he opens the newly created PDF in Acrobat 6.0, then he doesn't see any
bookmarks. If he opens it in Acrobat 5.0, then bookmarks display and
everything looks fine. The bookmarks checkmark is selected.
Multiple times, he has reinstalled Acrobat 5.0 distiller THEN Acrobat 6.0
distiller THEN Acrobat 5.0 PDF Maker (to work with Word). Every few weeks
or months, it gets wonky again. (Then he has to repeat the reinstall
again.) I asked him if he should install it as Acrobat 5.0 distiller THEN
5.0 PDF Maker THEN Acrobat 6.0 and he says then his Mic Word PDF creation
won't work AT ALL.
Our IT guy here thinks that his loss of the bookmark functionality might
be tied to the fact that his computer recently did some automatic Windows
XP updates. Not sure if this is really the culprit though.
Has anyone encountered this or know what we are doing wrong? I
cross-posted this topic on the Adobe Acrobat forums.
