A job posting is not an advertisement. It's a job posting. He could have
posted it for free on the STC's job bank, where the job listings are
only viewable by STC members. But instead he chose to post it here where
STC members and non-members alike can view it.

I really think this is ridiculous.... My singular motive with posting
the job was to give anyone participating in this list an opportunity.
I'm not the one doing the hiring, nor am I working with our HR
department. I have nothing to gain. I considered it "networking." I got
my current job by networking, so I considered the job posting a method
of "paying it forward."
If Eric tells me to rescind the posting, I'll do so, and will delete any
resumes sent to me via this list. I think that's stupid, if there are
out-of-work writers out there, but I'll abide by the request if given.
He might want to be a little more clear in the Terms of Service,
though....

Silly me, isn't a job posting an advertisement? You'd have to "pay" some
places to list your job and it would be located in the "Advertisement"
section of a daily or weekly newspaper. Quotes intentional. :)
But perhaps I'm splitting hairs.
