Hi Lisa,

I am a new subscriber to techwr-l and think that a comment to your post
below might be a good place to jump in to the conversation. I have been a
tech writer for an aerospace company for almost eight years but although I
am interested in the kind of work issues all other tech writers are doing,
it would be more helpful to me to see postings from a variety of writers
such as those you describe as needing to be drawn out. Thanks for
recognizing the gap and congratulations on your new position.

Yes, you're right, it does. But that's not intended to be a bad thing or
an insult or anything else like that!

Such a large percentage of Techwhirlers write for the software industry
that there will never be a shortage of information from and for them! I'm
trying to draw out some of the other writers who don't contribute as much
or as often to the list and Web site.

Now, you could say that since the percentage runs that way, that's where
the emphasis should be. But the way I see it, if there was more
information for other tech writing types, maybe more of them would find
TECHWR-L to be a valuable resource, and the percentage would shift. After
all, someone writes your VCR manual, your computer manual, your doctor's
heart monitor manual, your flight's aircraft manual, etc.
