John, I'm 52 and have been there, particularly after the onset of major
house work (including the dreaded power tools) a few years ago.

I've read a lot of the replies in this thread so far, but have given up.
I know that you've been around long enough to understand
desk/keyboard/mouse ergonomics, for example.

See a chiropractor. Seriously. It's a nerve/spinal thing, and can be
(relatively) easily addressed at minimal expense. (Except in severe
cases.) A good chiro is cheaper than physical therapy, and much less
overkill.
