My friends who have tried to sell screenplays (that seem plenty interesting
and engaging to me) keep getting rejected because they are TOO original...
ie. they don't fit the current marketable formula.

So maybe you should try writing screenplays... from what we see coming out
of Hollywood, being able to write stories that lack "originality" may mean
that you'd be great at writing scripts for mega movies.
